Market Conditions Could Shape a New Type of Altcoin Season

The crypto market may be heading toward a different type of altcoin cycle, according to Matt Hougan of Bitwise Asset Management. Rather than a speculative surge across all tokens, Hougan believes investors may start valuing specific decentralized finance projects with real revenue and established operations.

However, several factors are currently slowing down a broader altcoin rally. Analysts cite capital dilution, the rise of low-float tokens with high valuations, and growing competition from derivatives markets as key challenges. Even so, some traders believe that if Bitcoin dominance weakens, liquidity could rotate back into altcoins and spark a new — though more selective — market cycle.
