Microsoft Patent Proposes Cloud AI Helpers to Beat Tough Game Sections
-

Microsoft has filed a patent for a cloud-based system that allows AI or human helpers to take over a player’s session to overcome difficult parts of a game. Unlike previous coaching tools that offer tips or video guides, this system can actively play the game for you while streaming inputs back to your session in real-time. Players could encounter a “HELP” button when the game detects frustration, triggering assistance from a human or AI helper named “LuckySeven,” who completes the challenge while explaining their strategy.
The patent highlights AI-powered helpers trained on thousands of successful playthroughs, using advanced machine learning models—like support vector machines and decision trees—to detect when a player is truly stuck versus enjoying a challenge. After the session, players can choose to accept the updated game state or try themselves, maintaining full control over their experience. This system could reshape accessibility and reduce frustration without removing the core challenge of games.
