Tech and Law Enforcement Shut Down Major Phishing Platform Tycoon 2FA
-

A coalition of tech companies and law enforcement agencies has dismantled the core infrastructure behind Tycoon 2FA, a phishing-as-a-service platform that enabled cybercriminals to bypass multi-factor authentication (MFA). The operation involved several major players, including Coinbase and Microsoft, alongside support from Europol. As part of the crackdown, Microsoft helped block 330 domains linked to the platform while authorities seized key infrastructure used to run the phishing operation.
Financial tracking also played a key role in the investigation. Coinbase assisted by tracing blockchain transactions used to fund the Tycoon 2FA platform, helping investigators identify the alleged administrator and several buyers. According to the company, taking down the platform disrupts a major pipeline used for credential theft and forces cybercriminals to rebuild their operations while taking on greater risk.
