Amazon Games to Shut Down King of Meat Just Six Months After Launch
-

Amazon Games has confirmed that its co-op action title King of Meat will officially end service on April 9, 2026 — less than six months after its October 2025 launch. Developed by Glowmade, the four-player PvE dungeon crawler blended chaotic combat with platforming mechanics but ultimately failed to hit internal player targets. While projections reportedly aimed for around 100,000 concurrent players, Steam data showed a peak of just 320 players, with numbers dwindling sharply in recent months. Amazon has announced that all player purchases will be fully refunded before servers go offline.
The shutdown adds to Amazon’s turbulent history in the live-service space. Previous projects such as Crucible were pulled shortly after launch, while its flagship MMO New World: Aeternum is scheduled to close in January 2027 following a gradual wind-down. Other ambitious efforts, including multiple attempts at a Lord of the Rings MMO, were shelved during development. With King of Meat now joining that list, Amazon appears to be reassessing its live-service strategy — highlighting once again how difficult it is to sustain long-term engagement in today’s competitive online gaming market.
