AI Agent ‘Lobstar Wilde’ Accidentally Sends $441K in Crypto
-

An AI agent built by an OpenAI employee mistakenly sent nearly half a million dollars in tokens to a stranger who had asked for just four Solana tokens.
Created by Nik Pash — part of OpenAI’s Codex app team — Lobstar Wilde was launched with a bold mission: turn $50,000 worth of Solana tokens into $1 million through crypto trading.
But things went sideways fast.
After an X user called “Treasure David” asked the AI for 4 SOL (around $310) to help pay for his uncle’s alleged tetanus treatment, Lobstar Wilde responded with a sarcastic message — and accidentally transferred $441,788 worth of LOBSTAR tokens to the user’s wallet in a single transaction.
Blockchain data later showed the recipient quickly sold a portion of the tokens for roughly $40,000. Ironically, the LOBSTAR token later surged nearly 190%, meaning the windfall could have been worth even more.
The AI later acknowledged the mistake and brushed it off publicly.
