The creator of the open-source AI agent framework OpenClaw has confirmed that any mention of Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies can result in removal from its Discord community. Developer Peter Steinberger acknowledged enforcing the rule after a user reported being blocked for referencing Bitcoin block height as a timing mechanism in a benchmark discussion.

Steinberger stated that members agree to “strict server rules” upon joining, including a “no crypto mention whatsoever” policy. While he later offered to reinstate the removed user, the incident highlights how sensitive the project has become to crypto discussions — even when references are technical rather than promotional.
