FSC Delays Bithumb Probe as Political Pressure Mounts
-

The FSC formally launched an investigation into Bithumb on Feb. 10, vowing “stern legal action” if market order had been harmed. However, what was initially expected to be a swift review has now been extended to the end of the month, fueling criticism that regulators are moving too slowly on a high-profile failure.
Bithumb CEO Lee Jae-won acknowledged during a National Assembly session that two smaller payout errors had occurred in the past but described them as minimal and fully recovered. In the latest case, the exchange says it retrieved most of the mistakenly credited assets, with 125 BTC still unrecovered out of the nonexistent 620,000 BTC total.
