Social media platform X, formerly Twitter, is preparing to integrate stock and cryptocurrency trading directly into user timelines. According to Nikita Bier, X’s head of product, users will soon be able to execute trades immediately after discovering an asset in their feed. The rollout centers on “Smart Cashtags,” an upgraded version of the current system where ticker symbols like $BTC generate clickable links.

Under the new functionality, tapping a cashtag will display live price charts, related discussions, and direct trading options — eliminating the need to switch between social media and brokerage apps. The move represents a major step in Elon Musk’s vision of turning X into an “everything app,” blending social interaction, payments, and investing into a single platform experience.
