Diablo 2 Gets First Major Expansion in 25 Years with ‘Reign of the Warlock’

For the first time since 2001’s Lord of Destruction, Diablo 2 is receiving a brand-new expansion. Reign of the Warlock introduces an entirely new class — the Warlock — to Diablo 2: Resurrected, marking a historic moment for the franchise’s 30th anniversary.

Unlike the holy-powered Paladin, the Warlock taps into dark Vizjerei magic, summoning demons like Goatmen and Defilers, binding enemy demons to steal their abilities, or even devouring them for powerful buffs. The expansion also adds Enhanced Terror Zones, a new boss (the Colossal Ancients), stash improvements, a built-in Loot Filter, and item tracking features. After nearly 25 years, Diablo 2 is evolving again — and longtime fans finally have something entirely new to master.
