Fallout 76 May Finally Consider Cross-Play
-

After more than seven years, Bethesda is actively exploring cross-play for Fallout 76. The live-service RPG has kept PlayStation, Xbox, and PC players on separate servers since its 2018 launch, despite repeated community calls for multi-platform play.
Creative Director Jon Rush told Polygon that the team is now “looking into it” and scoping the work required — though he cautions it’s not in the immediate plans. Lead Producer Bill LaCoste emphasized the technical hurdles: retrofitting multi-platform servers years after launch involves handling entitlements, account purchases, and in-game currency across ecosystems.
Even if it’s far off, the shift from dismissal to exploration signals that Bethesda is listening — and it could eventually reduce queue times, unify seasonal events, and smooth platform-switching for players.
