Zuckerberg Says AI Glasses Are Meta’s Next Smartphone Moment
-

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg used the company’s Q4 2025 earnings call to make a bold case for AI smart glasses, calling them the next major consumer computing platform.
After scaling back its metaverse ambitions, Meta is now heavily focused on AI wearables and in-house AI models. Zuckerberg said sales of Meta’s smart glasses tripled over the past year, describing them as “some of the fastest-growing consumer electronics in history.”
He compared the current moment to the transition from flip phones to smartphones, arguing that billions of people already wear glasses or contacts — and that it’s “hard to imagine” a future where most glasses aren’t AI-powered.
While Meta’s past tech predictions haven’t always aged well, the company is clearly betting big on AI hardware.
