OpenClaw’s open-source AI assistant is growing fast
-

OpenClaw, the AI assistant previously called Clawdbot and Moltbot, is attracting attention from developers, researchers, and early adopters. Peter Steinberger credits the community-driven expansion for the project’s rapid growth, including the creation of Moltbook, where AI agents share instructions and interact autonomously.
Despite the hype, OpenClaw is not yet for mainstream use. Security improvements are underway, but running the AI with full access to messaging apps or sensitive systems is still risky. Sponsors like Path’s Dave Morin and Makerpad founder Ben Tossell are helping fund the project, with maintainers now being added to support ongoing development.
