Nintendo Switch Ports of Dispatch Enforce Visual Censorship

The recently released Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 versions of Dispatch have made visual censorship mandatory, removing the option to toggle it off. Players on these consoles will see black bars over nudity and obscene gestures, while the profanity toggle remains optional.

Originally launched on PC and PS5 in October 2025, Dispatch is an episodic narrative adventure starring Robert Roertson III, aka Mecha Man, who rehabilitates former supervillains. The game features a star-studded voice cast including Aaron Paul, Laura Bailey, Matthew Mercer, and popular creators like Jacksepticeye.

Developer AdHoc Studio confirmed the change was made in collaboration with Nintendo, citing platform-specific content standards. While key story beats and episodes remain intact, certain romantic scenes—particularly in episode four—were altered with black bars and audio edits. The Switch 2 version also includes improved frame rates and visual enhancements.

This is not the first instance of Nintendo modifying Dispatch content; cover art for DLC packs was previously censored on the eShop. Nintendo’s policies remain inconsistent, as some games, like Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, retain nudity options on the same platform.

honestly kinda funny that switch 2 gets visual upgrades but also more censorship… can’t have everything i guess.
