Google Makes Gemini 3 the Default Model for AI Overviews Worldwide

Google has announced that Gemini 3 is now the default AI model powering AI Overviews across global Search results.

In a blog post, the company said the upgrade will deliver “best-in-class AI responses” directly on the Search results page, improving accuracy and depth for complex queries.

The move follows Google’s recent push toward more personalized AI experiences, including the introduction of “Personal Intelligence” in AI Mode. That feature allows Search to draw on data from services like Gmail, Google Photos, and YouTube history to generate more tailored responses.

Google has also expanded AI Overviews beyond Search, recently bringing the feature to Gmail to help users find information in their inbox using natural language instead of traditional keyword searches.
