Google Adds Conversational Follow-Ups to AI Overviews in Search
-

Google is rolling out a new feature that lets users ask follow-up questions directly from AI Overviews, the AI-generated summaries that appear at the top of Search results.
The update allows users to transition seamlessly into AI Mode, Google’s conversational search experience designed for complex questions. Instead of starting a new query, users can continue the conversation while preserving context from the original AI Overview.
According to Google, testing shows users prefer a more natural, conversational flow when exploring topics in depth. The company says the experience is designed to feel like a single journey — starting with a quick snapshot and expanding into a deeper dialogue as needed.
The change is part of Google’s broader effort to shift Search from a static list of links into a more interactive, AI-driven discovery experience.
