Thai SEC Tightens Influencer Rules as KuCoin Thailand Faces Suspension
-

Alongside new crypto-friendly regulations, Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission is tightening oversight of financial influencers and enforcing stricter compliance among exchanges.
The SEC said any individual promoting securities or investment returns, including crypto products, will now require proper authorization as an investment advisor or introducing broker. The move is aimed at curbing misleading promotions in the fast-growing digital asset sector.
Separately, the regulator suspended KuCoin Thailand earlier this month after the exchange failed to meet minimum capital requirements for five consecutive days. KuCoin attributed the issue to a shareholder dispute that delayed a planned capital increase, rather than liquidity problems.
KuCoin Thailand said it is working to resolve the matter and plans to apply for a digital-asset broker license to expand its local offerings.
