$63M From January Crypto Hack Traced to Tornado Cash
-

Blockchain security firm CertiK has linked roughly $63 million in Tornado Cash deposits to the massive $282 million wallet compromise that occurred on Jan. 10. According to CertiK, monitoring systems detected interactions with Tornado Cash, expanding the picture of how the attacker laundered funds after one of the year’s largest crypto thefts.
CertiK’s analysis shows that stolen Bitcoin was bridged to Ethereum, converted into Ether, and then fragmented across multiple wallets before entering the mixer. While the $63 million represents only part of the total loss, the pattern highlights a deliberate effort to obscure transaction trails following the initial cross-chain transfers.
