How Confer Protects Conversations — and What It Costs
-

Confer’s privacy guarantees rely on multiple layers working together. Messages are encrypted using WebAuthn passkeys, while all AI inference runs inside a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) with remote attestation to verify the system hasn’t been tampered with. Within that secure enclave, open-weight models handle user queries without exposing raw data to the host.
This architecture is far more complex than a typical AI deployment, but it enables something rare: sensitive conversations that don’t leak outward. The tradeoff is price and limits. Confer’s free tier allows just 20 messages per day, while unlimited access costs $35 a month — noticeably more than mainstream alternatives. The message is clear: true privacy in AI is possible, but it isn’t cheap.

this is cool but yeah, privacy always ends up being the premium option
