Google Tightens Crypto App Rules in South Korea
-

Google is rolling out stricter requirements for crypto apps on Google Play in South Korea, a move that could significantly limit access to offshore exchanges. Starting Jan. 28, crypto exchange and wallet apps must provide proof that their Virtual Asset Service Provider registration has been formally accepted by the country’s Financial Intelligence Unit.
Apps that fail to meet the requirement may be blocked from new downloads in South Korea, gradually disrupting user access. While existing installations may continue to work, users who switch devices, reset phones, or reinstall apps could find themselves locked out—effectively tightening the gate without an outright ban.

this feels like a soft ban without actually calling it a ban, very korea-coded
