SWIFT Tests a Euro Stablecoin for Real-World Finance
-

SWIFT has successfully tested a euro-pegged stablecoin issued by Société Générale as part of a collaboration aimed at bridging traditional finance with blockchain-based assets. The trial focused on improving interoperability between legacy payment systems and onchain settlement, a key hurdle for institutional adoption of digital assets.
The project used the stablecoin EUR CoinVertible, developed by Société Générale’s digital asset arm SG-Forge. The test demonstrated that tokenized bonds could be issued and settled using both fiat and digital currencies while relying on existing payment infrastructure and ISO 20022 messaging standards.
