Even without a precise date, a February Nintendo Direct is historically a safe assumption. Since the livestream format debuted in 2011, Nintendo has hosted a February Direct in 10 of the past 14 years and is currently on a six-year streak of doing so.

Given that every year since 2012 has featured a major Direct in either January or February, the odds strongly favor a showcase before the end of winter. If Nintendo doesn’t announce anything by late January, expectations for a February event will only intensify.
