Tariffs Are Turning Cost Pressure Into Layoffs
-

Rising costs tied to tariffs under Donald Trump are increasingly translating into job losses, according to a new survey by the Association for Supply Chain Management and CNBC. About 32% of supply chain managers reported layoffs—double the share seen just months earlier—highlighting how trade policy is moving from balance sheets into the workforce.
ASCM CEO Abe Eshkenazi warned that these cuts carry long-term consequences. As companies lose skilled staff to manage costs, they also lose expertise that’s hard to rebuild, weakening their ability to grow once conditions improve.
