Pump.fun co-founder Alon Cohen has acknowledged that the platform’s current creator fee system needs a major rethink. In a post on X, Cohen said the Dynamic Fees V1 model boosted activity but ultimately pushed the ecosystem in the wrong direction.

According to Cohen, the structure encouraged low-risk token minting instead of high-risk trading. That imbalance is problematic because traders, not creators, are the main drivers of liquidity and volume. Without healthy trading incentives, even high activity can become unsustainable.
