Indonesia has taken one of the strongest actions yet against AI-generated sexual content by temporarily blocking access to xAI’s chatbot Grok. The decision follows a surge of sexualized AI-generated images, including non-consensual depictions of real women and minors, shared through the social platform X.

Indonesia’s communications and digital minister, Meutya Hafid, said the government views non-consensual sexual deepfakes as a serious violation of human rights and digital safety. Authorities have also summoned X officials for discussions, signaling that further regulatory steps could follow if safeguards are not implemented.
