Ford Unveils an AI Assistant for Drivers, Starting With Its App
-

Ford announced at the 2026 Consumer Electronics Show that it’s developing a new AI-powered digital assistant, set to debut in the revamped Ford smartphone app in early 2026. Built on off-the-shelf large language models and hosted on Google Cloud, the assistant will have deep access to vehicle-specific data, allowing it to answer both practical and technical questions.
Drivers will be able to ask high-level questions like cargo capacity as well as real-time diagnostics such as oil life or maintenance status. Ford plans to bring the assistant directly into vehicles in 2027, marking a gradual but deliberate move toward more conversational, context-aware in-car experiences without overwhelming drivers from day one.
