Why the RTX 3060 Makes Sense During the RAM Shortage
-

High-end GPUs have become increasingly out of reach, with some flagship cards reportedly listed above $3,000 as the global RAM shortage tightens supply. Unlike newer GPUs, the RTX 3060 uses GDDR6 memory, which is less affected by the AI-driven demand impacting newer standards.
According to recent data, the RTX 3060 8GB remains the most popular GPU in the Steam hardware survey, despite being several generations old. Its relatively low VRAM requirements make it far cheaper to produce than newer 40- and 50-series cards, some of which ship with up to 32GB of memory.
For Nvidia, reviving the RTX 3060 could be a strategic move to maintain sales volume while avoiding the worst of the current memory cost crisis.
