India, France, and Malaysia Escalate Regulatory Pressure
-

India’s IT ministry has ordered X to restrict Grok from generating content deemed obscene, sexually explicit, or pedophilic under local law. The directive gives the company 72 hours to comply or risk losing “safe harbor” protections that limit liability for user-generated content.
Meanwhile, France has opened an investigation into the spread of sexually explicit deepfakes, with prosecutors reviewing reports submitted by multiple government ministers. Malaysia has also launched its own probe, citing serious concerns over AI misuse involving women and minors.
