Remote Work Is Now a Privilege, Not a Right
-

According to new insights from Randstad, the era of universal remote work is effectively over. The firm’s global CEO, Sander van ’t Noordende, says a new hierarchy has emerged in which only highly senior or “special” talent retains the freedom to work from home, while most workers are expected back in the office.
For freelancers and contractors, this shift matters. What was once assumed to be part of independent work—geographic freedom—is increasingly becoming a negotiated perk. The message from employers is clear: unless your skills are scarce or mission-critical, remote work is no longer guaranteed.
