Coinbase Pauses Peso Rails in Argentina, Keeps Crypto Live
-

Coinbase has paused its local fiat operations in Argentina less than a year after officially entering the market. According to Forbes Argentina, the company described the move as a “deliberate pause” following a review of its local setup, aimed at returning later with a more sustainable offering.
Starting Jan. 31, 2026, users will no longer be able to buy or sell USD Coin using Argentine pesos or withdraw funds to local bank accounts. Crypto-to-crypto trading remains fully operational, and Coinbase emphasized that customer funds are unaffected and that the decision does not signal a permanent exit.

Coinbase calling it a “deliberate pause” in argentina feels like corporate speak for “this was harder than expected”
