Crypto Prices Rise, So Do Physical Attacks
-

Geographically, Western Europe and parts of the Asia-Pacific region have seen the sharpest rise in wrench attacks, while North America remains comparatively safer—though still experiencing growth in absolute numbers. One of the strongest drivers appears to be price: as total crypto market capitalization increases, so does the frequency of violent incidents.
A simple regression analysis shows that about 45% of the variation in attack frequency can be explained by market cap alone. In other words, higher prices attract more criminal attention. This reinforces a familiar pattern seen across financial crime: when assets become more valuable and visible, incentives for physical theft increase.
