As AI absorbs global attention, venture capital in India is increasingly flowing into manufacturing and deep-tech sectors, where competition for capital is lower and local advantages are stronger.
Investors point to India’s talent pool, cost structure, and customer access as key drivers. Advanced manufacturing startups have grown nearly tenfold over the past five years, according to industry estimates.
Lightspeed partner Rahul Taneja said these sectors represent a “right to win” opportunity, offering long-term scale without the extreme capital intensity seen in Silicon Valley.
