Crypto Security Firms Race to Contain Address Poisoning Attacks

Security researchers say address poisoning has overtaken older phishing methods like scam-as-a-service drainers, which once dominated crypto fraud. While browser and wallet warnings have reduced some risks, poisoned addresses remain difficult to detect for everyday users.

Binance’s security team says it has developed an “antidote” system that uses algorithms to flag suspicious activity, identifying roughly 15 million poisoned addresses so far. Despite rare cases where stolen funds are returned, most victims never recover losses.
