A nationwide license plate tracking system in Uzbekistan has been left exposed to the internet, revealing a network of around 100 high-resolution roadside cameras monitoring vehicles and drivers across the country.

Security researcher Anurag Sen discovered the system online without a password, allowing access to millions of photos and video footage of traffic violations, from red-light runners to unlicensed vehicles driving at night. The system, operated by Uzbekistan’s Department of Public Security, continues to remain publicly accessible, raising serious privacy and security concerns.

This lapse offers a rare glimpse into how state-level vehicle surveillance operates—and the risks when such sensitive systems are left unsecured.
