Crypto’s Loudest Voice in the Senate Is Stepping Down
-

Source: Cynthia LummisWyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis, one of Washington’s most influential crypto advocates, announced she will not seek reelection in 2026, ending her Senate tenure in 2027.
Since taking office in 2021, Lummis became the go-to lawmaker for Bitcoin and digital asset policy, pushing market structure legislation and aligning closely with President Trump’s pro-crypto agenda. Her departure leaves a noticeable gap just as Congress debates how the US will regulate crypto for the next decade.
Lummis described the decision as a personal one, saying the Senate demands “marathon energy” she no longer feels she has. For crypto policy, however, the timing could not be more consequential.
