Nvidia May Cut RTX GPU Production in 2026 Amid Global RAM Shortage
-

Nvidia could significantly scale back production of its RTX graphics cards in early 2026, according to new industry rumors tied to the ongoing DRAM supply crisis. Sources suggest gaming GPU output may be reduced by 30%–40% compared to 2025, as memory shortages continue to squeeze manufacturers worldwide.
The crunch began after OpenAI reportedly placed massive DRAM orders to support AI data centers, prompting suppliers to prioritize enterprise contracts. With DRAM prices soaring — and 32GB DDR5 kits jumping from under $100 to more than $350 — Nvidia may be forced to favor higher-margin GPUs. While Nvidia has not confirmed any production changes, the situation could tighten supply for mainstream gaming cards next year.
