PortalOS, Validators, and Security Tradeoffs
-

PortalOS includes a Notary Chain with 150 validator slots (initially permissioned), responsible for match-making, pricing, liquidity accounting, and maintaining cross-chain contracts.
Validators can’t seize assets, but they can censor, delay, or disrupt swaps if compromised.
Even so, the team argues the design avoids the systemic risks of vault-controlled liquidity while enabling a full liquidity layer built on Bitcoin. -
Security models always require balancing speed, decentralization, and trust.

Validator design plays a huge role in overall network resilience.
