Telegram Founder Pavel Durov Reveals Early Bitcoin Bet and TON Vision

Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov revealed in a new interview that his early Bitcoin investment has funded his lifestyle and kept him financially independent from the messaging app he built.
Speaking on the Lex Fridman Podcast on Tuesday, Durov said he purchased his first few thousand Bitcoin in 2013 at around $700 per BTC, spending “a couple of million” on the then-nascent asset.
“I was a big believer in Bitcoin since more or less the start of it,” Durov said. “Some people ridiculed me when the price fell below $200, but I didn’t care. I believe in this thing. Nobody can confiscate your Bitcoin from you. Nobody can censor you for political reasons.”
He also predicted that Bitcoin could eventually reach $1 million, citing governments’ relentless money printing and Bitcoin’s capped supply. “Bitcoin is here to stay. All the fiat currencies remain to be seen,” he added.
