Adams Leaves Crypto Agenda Hanging in NYC
-

Mayor Eric Adams, a Bitcoin advocate who pushed for New York City to become the “crypto capital of the globe,” has ended his bid for reelection. The announcement follows financial woes tied to a dismissed bribery case and the withholding of public campaign funds.
Adams had proposed creating a digital advisory council and even floated a city-backed Bitcoin bond while calling for an overhaul of the state’s restrictive BitLicense program. But without his reelection bid, these crypto-friendly policies may stall.
New York City will hold its mayoral election on Nov. 4, 2025. Adams will remain in office until Jan. 1, 2026.
