Apollo in exclusive talks to buy majority stake in Atletico Madrid

Apollo is in exclusive negotiations to acquire a majority stake in Spanish football club Atletico de Madrid, according to a report from Expansion.
The investment firm is looking to purchase shares from the club’s main shareholder, Atletico Holdco, which is currently owned by Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, Ares Management, Enrique Cerezo, and Quantum Pacific.
According to sources cited by Expansion, the current owners would remain as minority shareholders following the transaction.
As part of the deal, Apollo would also conduct a capital increase specifically aimed at developing the Ciudad del Deporte del Atlético de Madrid, the club’s sports complex.
