Crypto ATM Scams Surge in Idaho

️ Attorney General Raúl Labrador warns of a spike in cryptocurrency ATM scams targeting seniors in Idaho. Scammers pose as tech support or government officials, demanding cash be deposited into crypto ATMs to “fix computer problems” or pay fake fines.In just one week, an alert store employee prevented two seniors from losing over $30,000. Labrador says:
“If anyone demands you put cash into a cryptocurrency ATM for any reason, it’s more than likely a scam. Report it immediately.”
Reported losses jumped from $19M in 2023 to $35M in 2024, with seniors being the most affected.
