Crypto Phishing Ads On Google Are Still Draining Millions
-

Blockchain analysts are warning about a growing wave of malicious Google ads impersonating major crypto platforms like Uniswap. Attackers reportedly stole at least $400,000 through fake sponsored search results designed to look nearly identical to legitimate DeFi websites. The scam works because attackers:
• Buy Google ads or hijack advertiser accounts
• Outbid real crypto platforms
• Appear above official search results
• Redirect users to cloned websitesOnce victims connect wallets or sign transactions, funds are drained almost instantly.
Security Alliance (SEAL) says phishing attacks through Google ads have accelerated sharply in recent months, with over 356 malicious ad links blocked and more than $1.27 million reportedly stolen during one short campaign alone.
For crypto users, one wrong click on a sponsored result can now be enough to lose an entire wallet.

the broader implication is that crypto security increasingly depends not only on blockchain protocols but also on the integrity of mainstream internet ecosystems like search advertising and social media distribution systems
