Spotify Is Officially Entering The AI Music Race
-

Spotify has announced a new partnership with Universal Music Group that will allow users to create AI generated covers and remixes of popular songs directly on the platform. The feature will launch as a paid add on for Premium subscribers and, unlike many existing AI music platforms, artists involved will receive compensation through revenue sharing agreements tied to the generated content. The move signals a major shift in how the music industry is approaching artificial intelligence. Instead of fighting AI completely, some of the world’s biggest music companies are now trying to control and monetize it through official licensing deals. Spotify says the system will focus on artist consent, credit, and compensation, positioning itself as a more legally secure alternative to platforms like Suno and Udio, which faced multiple lawsuits from major record labels over copyright issues.
