Far Cry 7 Leak Points to Alaska Setting, Time-Based Mechanic, and a Combined Single-Player and Multiplayer Package
-

A leaker known as Rogue has shared new details about Far Cry 7, corroborated in part by AC Invictus leaker xJonathan, suggesting the game is set in Alaska and features a previously rumored story mechanic involving rescuing family members against a ticking clock. An audio clip from what is claimed to be a Far Cry 7 trailer — reportedly DMCA'd shortly after posting — contained generic action music notably underscored by a ticking sound, lending some credibility to the time-based mechanic theory. Rogue also posted an image claiming to show one of the game's protagonists from early development, described as unremarkable but notable for the use of "one" — suggesting the multiple protagonist or gender selection system introduced in Far Cry 6 is returning. The previously circulating rumor that Cillian Murphy would voice or portray the main villain has been denied by Rogue, who is among those pushing back on that claim. The most structurally interesting detail in the leak concerns how Far Cry 7 is being packaged.
According to Rogue, two separate projects were originally in development — a mainline single-player game and a standalone multiplayer title — but the two have since been merged into a single release. The multiplayer component is described as an extraction game set on its own independent map called Paradise Park, separate from the main single-player map, and attached to the base game rather than released as a free-to-play standalone. Rogue suggested a reveal is possible this year, with Summer Game Fest or a Ubisoft showcase the most likely venue, while cautioning the game itself would not release in 2026. Both the leaker's track record and the corroboration from xJonathan are imperfect, so the usual grain of salt applies — but the detail level and the DMCA response to the audio clip add more weight than a typical unverified rumor.
