Steam Controller 2 Is Shipping — First Units Have Already Arrived in the US

Valve's second-generation Steam Controller is officially on its way to customers, with the first units already confirmed as delivered in the United States just two days after the device went on sale. The controller launched on May 4 through Valve's storefront, selling out within hours despite inventory being released in waves throughout the day — at times alternating between "in stock" and "out of stock" as demand repeatedly outpaced supply. Based on community reports compiled as of May 6, orders in at least 22 of the 32 countries where the device is officially sold have cleared the packaging stage, with buyers in countries including Germany, Spain, Poland, Australia, the UK, Sweden, and the Netherlands also reporting their orders have been picked up by carriers or assigned tracking numbers. Valve appears on track to meet its original estimate of first-wave deliveries arriving between May 7 and May 11 depending on region.The second-generation Steam Controller was announced in November 2025, arriving a decade after Valve's original dedicated PC gamepad first hit the market. For those who missed the launch window, Valve has already acknowledged that its initial inventory ran out faster than anticipated and has confirmed it is actively working on restocking, with an updated availability timeline promised soon.
