    The more experimental intersection involves tokenization, where ownership rights to high-value luxury items are represented as digital tokens on a blockchain, theoretically enabling fractional ownership of rare handbags, watches, or collectibles stored in secure vaults. Several platforms have experimented with this model, though it remains niche with limited liquidity and regulatory uncertainty. Purchasing a tokenized representation of a luxury item is fundamentally different from owning the physical product, but it opens the possibility of investing in luxury asset appreciation without the barriers of full ownership cost. Digital luxury NFTs from brands like Gucci, Dolce and Gabbana, and Burberry have also found audiences among metaverse participants and collectors, though Chanel has maintained a more conservative approach to purely digital products as of 2026.
