A developer says a new CUDA-powered tool could unlock one of Bitcoin’s oldest mysteries — the lost 8,999 BTC wallet belonging to “Stone Man.”

The funds, now worth hundreds of millions, were lost in 2010 due to an early wallet bug that generated a “change address” the user never saved. Since then, the wallet has remained untouched for nearly 16 years.

By leveraging GPU acceleration, the new method attempts to brute-force private keys more efficiently than older CPU-based approaches. If successful, it could mark one of the largest recoveries in Bitcoin history.
