Resident Evil Requiem Surpasses 7 Million Units Shipped in Under Two Months
-

Resident Evil Requiem has hit another major sales milestone, surpassing 7 million units shipped worldwide since its launch. Game director Koshi Nakanishi announced the achievement via Instagram, with Capcom employees celebrating the occasion with cakes themed around the game's two protagonists, Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy. The milestone follows an extraordinary launch trajectory: the game shipped over 5 million copies within its first week, making it the fastest-selling entry in franchise history and overtaking the record previously held by Resident Evil 6. It then reached 6 million copies in just 17 days before crossing the 7 million mark, sustaining momentum that shows no signs of slowing.
The game's success extends beyond physical and digital sales. On Steam, Resident Evil Requiem peaked at 344,214 concurrent players at launch and continues to hold an Overwhelmingly Positive rating from the majority of players on the platform, a rare designation that reflects consistent satisfaction from a large player base rather than initial launch hype alone. Capcom has supported the title with continued post-launch updates including a recently added Photo Mode, and a DLC is confirmed to be in development with no release date announced yet. Leaks also suggest a Mercenaries mode could be coming in the near future. Resident Evil Requiem is not the only Capcom success story in 2026, with Pragmata also selling 2 million units within days of its release and Onimusha: Way of the Sword on the horizon, making this one of the studio's strongest years in recent memory.
