PlayStation to Introduce Age Verification for Chat Features
-

Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed that PlayStation users will soon need to verify their age to continue using communication features like voice chat and messaging. The rollout is expected later in 2026 and is part of a broader effort to comply with global regulations aimed at creating safer online environments.Players who choose not to complete the verification process won’t lose access to games, trophies, or the PlayStation Store—but they will be locked out of social features until they verify their age. Sony says the process is a one-time check that takes only a few minutes, encouraging users to complete it early to avoid interruptions.
