Bybit Backs Malaysia’s Crypto Growth With $8M Investment

Bybit has led an $8 million Series A funding round in Hata, signaling a strong push into Southeast Asia’s growing digital asset market. The investment follows Bybit’s earlier participation in Hata’s seed round and brings in additional support from global family offices. The new capital will be used to boost liquidity, expand Hata’s user base, and roll out new crypto products.

Hata operates under dual licenses from the Securities Commission Malaysia and the Labuan Financial Services Authority, allowing it to legally provide trading and custody services. Since launching in 2023, the platform has grown to over 209,000 users and processed more than 1.04 billion Malaysian ringgits in transaction volume in 2025, showing strong local adoption.
