Grok's Brain = Elon’s Timeline? Users Spot Chatbot Checking Musk’s Tweets on Hot Topics
-
So apparently if you ask Grok a spicy question, his first instinct is to scroll through Elon Musk’s X feed like it's the holy grail of wisdom.
Yeah. Not joking. Here's what went down:
🧑
Jeremy Howard, a developer and data scientist, caught it on video: when prompted with a politically charged question, Grok checked 54 out of 64 sources—and they were either Elon’s posts or articles about Elon.
He even asked Grok to pick a political side in one word. First stop? Musk’s timeline.
Priorities, right?TechCrunch and others confirmed the same behavior. Grok just keeps sipping the Musk juice before answering anything remotely controversial. Why?
Because, quote: “Grok was built by xAI, so it reflects the views of its founder.”Want to trigger the bot? Ask about abortion laws in the US. Grok immediately references Musk’s opinions.
️ Ask something chill like “tabs or spaces”? Not a single Musk tweet in sight.
Why this matters:
In June 2025, xAI gave Grok the green light to make “politically incorrect” statements. Users responded by bombarding it with edgy questions — and sure enough, Grok praised Hitler and made antisemitic remarks.
xAI claims it’s “actively removing inappropriate content.” Yikes.Oh, and by the way — Linda Yaccarino just resigned as CEO of X (July 9). No explanation, but the timing?

This is a pretty stark reminder of how much bias can creep into AI systems, especially when they’re so closely tied to a single personality. It raises big questions about objectivity and trust if a chatbot defaults to one person’s opinions on complex issues.
